Relocating to the Country?

Tuesday, May 17, 2016

One rule of thumb that most people adhere to are the ‘five Ps’: there must be a pub, public transport, parish church, primary school and post office.  Quality of life does not, of course, depend simply on one’s individual satisfaction. The vibrancy of the local community, or lack of it, affects everyone.

Surveys have found that if money were no object then most of us would pack up our bags and head to the country, but would only want a “modest” five bedroom home. Research also suggests that in an ideal world, most people would shun the bright lights of the city, with half of people surveyed aspiring to live in a rural village or a country town and around a fifth choosing a seaside town as the perfect place to live. The majority also said that their ideal home would be detached.
